GoPro Hero Session Dome Port

A professional photographer approached me with a challenge: to design a custom dome port housing for the GoPro Session camera that could achieve a unique half-above, half-below water shot, something only possible with a precisely engineered dome interface.

Starting from the client’s creative vision, I developed multiple CAD concepts exploring different geometries, seal configurations, and mounting methods to balance optical clarity, waterproofing, and ease of use. Several prototype iterations were 3D printed and tested to evaluate performance and buoyancy before finalizing the design.

The result was a compact, durable, and optically clean dome port that allowed the client to capture the exact visual effect they envisioned, expanding their creative possibilities and producing striking underwater imagery.
